Sanwei Co., Ltd.: Foundation work for the 900,000-ton-per-year BDO and biodegradable plastics integrated industrial chain project is largely complete.
On September 27, Sanwei Co., Ltd. disclosed an investor relations activity record form indicating that the company has established Inner Mongolia Sanwei New Materials Co., Ltd. in Wuhai City, Inner Mongolia, to construct an integrated industrial chain project for 900,000 tons/year of BDO and biodegradable plastics. Phase I of the project involves constructing a 300,000-ton/year 1,4-butanediol (BDO) facility, a 100,000-ton/year biodegradable plastic PBAT facility, a 60,000-ton/year high-end polyether material PTMEG facility, a 600,000-ton/year formaldehyde plant, and a supporting 360,000-ton/year acetylene feedstock (calcium carbide) integrated unit. As of the end of August, construction of the main functional areas has reached the structural framework stage, with the foundation work largely completed. Bidding and procurement for core equipment in key segments such as BDO, calcium carbide, and the power station have been largely finalized, while procurement for non-critical or auxiliary equipment is progressing according to schedule. The company is advancing the implementation of energy consumption quotas required for Phase II. Documentation has been submitted and awaits government approval. To further enhance product cost control, the company plans to add a 50-megawatt backpressure steam turbine generator set. This will not only meet all steam demands and partial electricity needs for Phase I but also enable the “reduction, resource utilization, and harmless disposal” of over 20,000 tons of sludge generated during production.
